The moderator of the Western and Southern Cape Synod of the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa believes in creation. Writing in that Guardian of The Faith Organ, Die Burger – a Cape based Afrikaans daily – the Reverend Dr. Braam Hanekom states: “I believe there is a Creator-God who was involved in the coming into being of the DNA structure of the smallest organism and the arrangement of the finest possible ecological balance imaginable.”
“Good ol’ It’s God ya knows” Creationism. Because, in the words of South African Apartheid leader John Vorster, “thu alternativ is jast too ghastley to kontumplyt.”
Halfway around the world another religious leader – Clifford Goldstein, editor of the Seventh-day Adventist Adult Sabbath School Bible Study Guide – called modern evolutionary theory “ridiculous”.
Referring to Plato’s Timaeus and the philosopher’s handling of the “tough question of origins, of creation”, Clifford pontificates: “Yet as ridiculous as Plato’s view of origins may be, it’s still miles ahead of modern evolutionery theory. Plato at least has the direction correct; that is, he had things degenerating, getting worse, winding down…”
“Good ol’ Second Law of Thermodynamics Creationism”!
How on earth can religious leaders expect to be taken seriously when they deny modern scientific fact?
“God”? “Creation”? Just how naïve are Christians? Just how plain ignorant are believers? Frankly, just how stupid exactly are the godsmacked? And by choice, to be sure! Once you believe in “God”… “Thu alternativ is jast too ghastley to kontumplyt.”
