Elvis is on this bus!
In reaction to the London bus advertisements that there probably is no God, Christians are hitting back with “There IS a God. BELIEVE…”
Belief is simply not good enough. Belief is a copout.
The Scottish geneticist, J.B.S. Haldane, used to say that it is more important to know about Darwin than to believe in Adam or Noah; that it is more important to know that Koch killed cholera that to believe that David killed Goliath; that is is more important to know that the Wright brothers took to the sky than to believe that Jesus did.
“There IS a God.”
Says who!? Where’s your evidence?
How about a bus proclaiming “There IS a Nessie/Yeti/Unicorn/Sasquatch.”
Or how about this on the opposite side of “There IS a God. BELIEVE…” : “Elvis is on this bus!”
“Irrationally held truths may be more harmful than reasoned errors”, said English biologist Thomas Huxley.
